Electronic Defence Systems, a business area of Saab, is one of the world’s premier suppliers of solutions for surveillance, avionics and systems to detect, locate and protect against threat.
The Modular Reconnaissance Pod System (MRPS) is designed for aerial reconnaissance on high-performance fighter aircraft. It is the only pod that has been designed to fulfill state-of-the-art requirements. The MRPS has three main sub-systems - the Sensor fit, the Digital Mass Memory and the Reconnaissance Management System. The system, which has provisions for both day and night capability, is designed for optimum performance and can be carried on various aircraft platforms.
The MRPS is continually being enhanced with new capabilities. As with any new high-tech system, a lot of testing has to be done before the system can be brought into service. The MRPS is equipped with an extensive logging system for evaluation purposes.
To speed up the evaluation process, the current general log analysis tool shall be enhanced with new capabilities, which are unique for the MRPS.

Your future challenge
The thesis work shall result in a user friendly application where Human Machine Interface (HMI) considerations have been taken into account. The application shall be based on an existing general log analysis tool. Model based development shall be used to achieve this. Primary programming language shall be Java.
There is a basic description of what new capabilities that are wanted. This description must be refined even further, so there will be a lot of cooperation with code developers and flight test engineers. This includes a validation and verification process to ensure that the finished log analysis tool meets the intended purpose.
Since the general log analysis tool is externally developed, some travel can be expected. If feasible, model based development can be used.

Todays demands
You are a master student in software engineering or equal. You have basic knowledge of requirements management, system design and software architecture. Good knowledge with Linux, Java and Eclipse is an advantage
As a person, you are a team player with strong personal commitment and a will to share responsibilities. You strive to improve everything you do. You have the courage to respectfully disagree and are prepared to back your position with evidence. You have no trouble working in both Swedish and English environments.
The position entails working with classified information and requires Swedish citizenship.
